A Day at the Museum

I had one of those weird flashbacks the other day where you remember completely random days from your childhood.  When I was about 5 or 6 my parents used to take me to “Dinosaur Class”.  I guess we learned about dinosaurs and did dinosaur related crafts but the one thing that really sticks out is going to class with my Star Wars Stride Rite shoe box and turning it into a dino diorama.  I was hooked after that, any school project that could be a diorama for sure was a diorama, and a river of tooth paste was always used to simulate water.  That was my signature diorama move… toothpaste!

Which brings me to my latest installment.  I went to the the local natural history museum and shot some snaps.  This is a follow up from a  job I did awhile back for Austin Monthly shooting the skeleton of the worlds largest flying animal, the Texas Pterosaur.  I didn’t have the time then to set up a tripod and shoot all the great specimens so I went back last month and revisited the project.  I’m especially excited about the terrarium style dioramas!
